More About Brazilian Waxing… At Massage & Banya Spa, Brazilian waxing is our specialty. We believe that both men and women should have a comfortable and shame-free experience with hair removal in this intimate area of the body.

What exactly is Brazilian Waxing? We consider Brazilian Waxing to include anything farther in than the regular Bikini Line, which stops right at the leg/pubic crease and goes into the labia and/or buttocks area. A full Brazilian is all hair in the pubic area and buttock crease. A modified Brazilian, sometimes known as “a landing strip” or “playboy” is when a small strip of hair is left and everything else is removed. If this is your first experience with waxing this area, we will spend time answering your questions to determine what you will like best.

Regarding pricing, our full Brazilian waxing starts out at $50 and usually, as in 9 out of 10 times, stay within the range of $50-$75 for women, and $75-$105 for men. For this price, the waxing will take between 15 and 25 minutes for women, and 25-40 minutes for men. We base our waxing on how long it takes to complete the hair removal. Sometimes clients have stubborn/coarser hair, longer hair, hair growing in multiple directions in the same proximity, extreme skin/pain sensitivity, etc. which is why we give you a typical estimate but include a wide range of price. We do tweeze, if you like, hair left.

Waxing is a preferred method of hair removal for this area and others for a lot of people due to the fact that it is less dangerous than shaving this area, hair usually grows back sparser (shaving increasing hair production due to stimulating hair follicle), and it lasts longer.

Regarding skin irritation after waxing, usually clients will get some little red bumps where the hair has been removed from the follicle and these usually disappear sometimes within a few hours but usually within 24 hours. As long as a client is not allergic to lavender, I have had great success with organic lavender oil calming the skin down dramatically and quickly. Clients with extremely sensitive skin can experience all over redness, occaisional bruising, and/or lifting of the skin. If you know you have extremely sensitive skin or have an extremely low pain threshold, please let me know and I will likely use a hard wax for this area. Additionally, you may consider taking Ibuprofen an hour before your appointment. Most of the testimonies I receive from clients are "that did not hurt like I thought it would", "that really did not hurt at all", and "that was so much easier than I thought it would be". Remember, the first time getting waxed is probably the worst time usually due to the density of the hair, anxiousness of what to expect, watching too many dramatic YouTube videos, or The 40 year old virgin. :)

Regarding sanitation, we at Massage & Banya Spa do always wear gloves when waxing this area and do NOT double dip applicators.
